The game behind the number

How basketball ratings and rankings work.

BattleHoop gives your on-court results context. Your Rating reflects eligible Ranked Game outcomes; your Rank shows where that Rating stands among active, eligible players in a city, state, country, or worldwide.

Three steps from game to rank.

01

Play a Ranked Game

Create or join a Ranked Game in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, or 5v5. Each mode has its own Rating, and BattleHoop also shows an Overall Rating.

02

Confirm the outcome

A participant reports the result. Someone on the opposing side confirms it, and Match Integrity checks eligibility before a Ranked Game changes Rating.

03

Compare your position

Once eligible, see your position against active players in City, State, Country, or Global leaderboards. Keep playing to maintain an active ranking.

Rating is not the same as Rank.

A mode starts with a Rating of 500 on a 0–1000 scale. Wins raise it and losses lower it; results against stronger opponents can move it more. Rank is your place in an eligible leaderboard ordered by Rating, not a separate score.

Frequently asked questions

Which games count toward my Rating?
Only Ranked Games with an opposing-side-confirmed result that passes Match Integrity. Casual games can still be fun to play and organize, but they do not change competitive Rating or the ranked win–loss record.
Do points, highlights, or likes improve my Rating?
No. Winning or losing a qualifying Ranked Game affects Rating; the score margin, video views, likes, and reviews do not. A final score can be submitted, but it is optional.
When does my rank become Official?
A mode becomes Official after 10 confirmed Ranked Games in that mode. Overall becomes Official after 10 total Ranked Games across modes. Before that, the Rating is Provisional. Leaderboard eligibility also requires a recent Ranked Game within 90 days in that mode, or in any mode for Overall.
What is the difference between City and Global rank?
Your underlying Rating does not change when you switch scope. City, State, Country, and Global compare you with different eligible groups. Players with equal Ratings share the same rank.
